A chef allegedly beheaded another man after he married his love interest before throwing his head into the street.
K Anandraj, 22, carried out the attack in the Tuticorin district of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, October 20, according to police.
The victim, 31-year-old S Ragahavan, befriended wife Mahalakshmi, 21, while she was studying near his place of work.
Anandraj proposed to the young woman, but she rejected him and married Ragahavan instead, The Times of India reports.
A week ago, Anandraj took a faulty TV to Ragahavan’s electronics centre to get it fixed.
Several days later, he arrived to pick it up carrying two knives and child powder, it is claimed.
Anandraj allegedly started arguing with the mechanic, threw child powder in his face and stabbed him.
He then decapitated his victim and threw the head in the road, police say.
Anandraj was later arrested and Raghavan’s body was sent for postmortem.
Last month, an elderly woman allegedly beheaded her husband during an argument over breakfast, foreign media reported.

Margaret Wanjiru, 65, is accused of killing 99-year-old Ndung'u Mugachia around 7.30am on Sunday, September 5, in the village of Kagumo-ini, southern Kenya.
She started arguing with her daughter-in-law, who had given Mr Mugachia breakfast, according to police.
Catherine Ringera, an officer in the nearby town of Kandara, said: “The husband came out to defend the daughter-in-law and that is when hell broke loose.”

Wanjiru then ran for a machete before cutting off her husband’s right ear and slitting his throat and cutting off his head, Kenyan newspaper theDaily Nationreported.
Her daughter-in-law, Betty Mumbi, said: “The husband tried to calm her down, but it was in vain, as she dashed for the panga and slit his throat.
“I tried saving him, but she also started attacking me."
