Police investigate fatal hit-run in Melbourne’s north-east

Major collision unit detectives are investigating a fatal hit-run in Melbourne’s north-east on Tuesday morning.

Victoria Police said in a statement they believed a man was crossing St Helena Road near the intersection of Wallowa Road, St Helena, when he was struck by a vehicle shortly before 2.50am.

The man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene. Police said the driver failed to stop.

They said the exact circumstances of the crash were yet to be determined, and the investigation was ongoing.
