'Puma' spotted prowling fields near I'm A Celeb castle in North Wales

Get me out of here! Mystery ‘puma’ is spotted prowling in fields near the I’m A Celebrity castle in North Wales – after string of big cat sightings in the area

  • A ‘puma’ has been seen stalking the Welsh countryside in a fresh big cat sighting
  • The creature was observed in the vicinity of  I’m a Celeb’s Gwrych Castle

A mysterious ‘puma’ has been spotted stalking the Welsh countryside just miles away from Gwrych Castle – used for two years to film ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The sighting was logged by a mother who claims she saw a large dark beast prowling the grasslands near the castle.

The strange phenomena – which is just the latest in a string of similar events in the area- has made north Wales the unofficial big cat sighting capital of the UK.

Just a few weeks before this fresh sighting, Wendy Williams was sat in her living room with her partner when she saw the ‘big cat’ in the field outside.

Wendy managed to film the mystery creature in Glan Conwy with her grainy seven seconds long footage showing a cat-like animal with pointy ears looking towards her home.

The small black creature has been likened to a Puma although it is unclear what the animal is

It was seen stalking an area of Wales which has become notorious for big cat sightings

The sighting was just a stone’s throw from Gwrych Castle where  I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here was filmed

Wendy said: ‘I was startled when I first saw it because it was so big and had pointy ears. It looked like a domestic cat but bigger.

‘At first I thought it was a cow or a horse’s head but the more I looked at it, the more it resembled a big cat.

‘There was no way it was a domestic cat because of its size. My daughter suggested it could have been a puma.’

Wendy says she has previously seen cows and horses in the field but never an animal that looked like a ‘big cat’ before.

There have been a number of suspected big cat sightings across North Wales in recent years.

Last month, two ‘large black cat’ sightings were reported within just one week in the nearby market town od Denbigh.

Eyewitnesses claim to have stumbled upon the ‘large black cat’ while out walking

One witness managed to snap a picture of the animal drinking from a trough before another came just 10 meters away from the ‘large animal.’

Amazing photos showed what appeared to be a large animal track in the vicinity of the sighting.

The apparent sightings both happened on January 12 and January 16.

The spate of sightings has even been leading some Conservative politicians to call for a Welsh Government investigation into the mystery creatures.

When keeping exotic pets was banned in the 1970s many owners reportedly released them into the wild to avoid rehoming costs sparking ‘sightings’ of panthers, pumas and leopards all over the UK.

It’s been suggested big cat owners travelled from across the UK to rural Wales to release their pets in remote parts of our country.
