He struck out four and allowed no walks across 4 1/3 innings. … Right-hander Jordan Sheffield was wild earlier in camp, but the Rule 5 pickup has thrown consecutive 1-2-3 innings, first against the Dodgers and again on Saturday.

At the plate: Shortstop Trevor Story hit his team-leading fourth home run, an opposite-field solo shot in the fourth. … After a slow start, Garrett Hampson is heating up. He was 1-for-2 and is hitting .324 with two doubles. Hampson has made nine starts in center field, three starts at second base and one in left field.

Worth noting: Ryan McMahon, the likely starting second baseman, went 0-for-3 Saturday, with a strikeout. He’s batting .189.
