Stripping Harry and Meghan of HRH titles ‘did not hold them back’ – expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially left their roles with the Royal Family two years ago and losing their patronage has not held them back, according to a royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have managed to secure lucrative deals with global streaming platforms such as Netflix and Spotify. as they left the UK for the US.

Although there has been a lack of content, Meghan will be releasing her long-awaited podcast Archetypes on Spotify this summer.

Leaving the Royal Family has allowed the Duke and Duchess to have these deals and also commit to various other projects, including investing in business such as ethical fintech firm Ethic.

The couple have lost royal perks such as the HRH titles, Harry's military honours and police protection, which is under a legal battle with the Duke’s representatives, but it has allowed them opportunities.

Harry has also been seen embracing American culture and notably made a high-profile appearance at the biggest event of the US sporting calendar, the NFL Super Bowl.

Royal expert Kinsey Schofield, founder of To Di For Daily and host of To Di For Daily Podcast, does not believe the loss of titles has stopped them “professionally”.

However, she did feel it was “odd” that Meghan kept using the Duchess of Sussex title despite having made her career without it.

"I don't believe that stripping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their titles has held them back professionally,” Kinsey told the Daily Star.

“In fact, I find it odd that Meghan refers to herself as the Duchess of Sussex when the most feminist move she could possibly make is to keep the name she built for herself – on her own entirely.

“I am curious to see what content they deliver but there is no doubt that securing lucrative contracts with Spotify and Netflix is considered a major win.

"Additionally, they are currently working on secret projects as we speak.

“I know as I overheard a conversation in a Beverly Hills coffee shop yesterday that involved Harry! So there is much more to come from the Sussexes.”

Speaking to Fabulous, branding expert and founder of Frank PR Andrew Bloch said: “Since moving to California and stepping down as working royals, Harry and Meghan have secured a number of lucrative business deals and personal endorsements which have seen their personal wealth rocket.

"I would estimate their combined net worth is circa £250million.
